How to play Lightning Roulette: gameplay and rules
Evolution combines a physical roulette wheel and a live presenter with a random number generator for the Lightning feature. Lightning Roulette is based on a single-zero wheel with 37 pockets: numbers 1–36 and zero. When you play online, you place your bets on the digital layout shown alongside the studio video.
Once betting closes, the game selects one to five numbers as Lucky Numbers, also called Lightning Numbers. Each receives a multiplier between 50x and 500x. A highlighted number still has to be the number where the ball lands; being selected for lightning does not make it a winning result.
Evolution’s game description explains that the wheel launches the ball automatically and the presenter uses a lever to start the Lucky Number selection after betting time expires. The betting indicator tells you when wagers are open or closed. The video alone is not a reliable guide to whether another bet can be accepted.
Which bets qualify for the multiplier?
A straight-up bet covers a single number. To receive the Lightning payout, that exact number must be both selected for the feature and the wheel’s winning result.
Other inside bets, such as a split, street or corner, can cover a Lightning Number and still receive only their usual payout. The same applies to red or black, odd or even, dozens and columns. Covering the number as part of a group does not qualify that bet for a multiplier.
Lightning Roulette payouts vs standard roulette
The table uses profit odds for ordinary wins. At 29:1, a successful £1 bet returns £29 profit plus the original £1 stake. The Lightning feature uses a different notation: 500x means a total return of 500 times that individual bet. To calculate the return, multiply the qualifying stake by the displayed multiplier.

The detailed Lightning Roulette rules express the enhanced range as 49:1–499:1, equivalent to 50x–500x including the stake. A £1 winning straight-up bet at 500x therefore returns £500 in total. It does not mean £500 profit plus the stake, or a multiplier on every chip placed that round.

Why Lightning Roulette has two RTP figures
The rulebook gives straight-up bets a theoretical return to player of 97.10%. Other bets have a theoretical RTP of 97.30%. Their corresponding house edges are 2.90% and 2.70%.
The straight-up figure already includes the Lightning feature. The possibility of an enhanced win does not sit on top of a separate 97.10% return. Equally, quoting 97.30% for the whole game misses the difference for players betting on individual numbers.
RTP describes the mathematical return over a very large number of bets. It cannot tell you how much of a deposit will remain after an evening’s play. A short session can finish far above or below that percentage.
Finding Lightning Roulette online at UK casinos
Check the complete game name in the casino lobby. Lightning Roulette, XXXtreme Lightning Roulette and First Person versions should not be treated as interchangeable. Open the paytable for the version you choose; the figures in this guide concern the original Lightning Roulette game.
When comparing online casino sites, look at the actual roulette table limits as well as the deposit minimum. The deposit minimum tells you how much you can add to your account, not how much each table accepts per bet. The game’s Bet Limits panel gives the limits for that table.

Can strategies for Lightning Roulette change the odds?
Choosing more numbers increases how much of the wheel your bets cover, but it also increases the total stake. It does not remove the reduced payout on ordinary straight-up wins.
For example, putting £1 on each of the 37 numbers costs £37. If the winning number has no Lightning multiplier, its £30 total return leaves a £7 loss for the round. A win in Lightning Roulette can still leave you with a loss across the round.
Results trackers show previous outcomes. They do not reveal the next winning number or the next random multiplier. There is no dependable list of “best numbers” that turns the game’s house edge in your favour. Increasing stakes after a loss also increases the amount you can lose.

Does a Lightning Number always win?
No. It receives an enhanced payout only if it becomes the wheel’s winning number and you have a qualifying straight-up bet on it.
Do red and black bets receive Lightning payouts?
No. These are even-money bets paying 1:1. The random enhancement applies to qualifying straight-up bets, not outside bets.
Is 500x a multiplier on the whole round’s stake?
No. It applies to the winning qualifying number bet. Bets on other numbers are settled separately.
What should I check before betting on Lightning Roulette on mobile?
The selected chips, total stake and betting status should be readable alongside the video. If the stream freezes, the interface’s bet confirmation and round history matter more than the last frame of footage. Accepted bets can still be settled even if the video stops.
